The Chhattisgarh region, the thirteenth ecclesiastical region of the country, with a geographical area
of 1,35,191 KM2 and a total population of 2,55,20,196 (as per 2011 Census), popularly known as the rice-bowl
of central India is still in its infancy. The region comprises of Archdiocese of Raipur, and Dioceses of Ambikapur,
Jashpur, Jagdalpur and Raigarh. The thirteenth Region of CBCI came into existence on 4 April, 2008.
The Catholic Population is about 4,10,000, which is tabulated to be 1.92% of the total population of the State.
